Fast, safe, and affordable tree care for your home or business. Licensed, fully insured, and locally based — with complete cleanup on every job.
Same-day callbacks · 24/7 emergency tree service · No-obligation quotes
Thurman & Son Tree Service LLC is a licensed and fully insured tree service based right here in Galesburg, Illinois. It started out of the trunk of a Chevy Impala — saw, climbing gear, and a willingness to work — and has grown into a full crew with the equipment and climbing skill to handle almost anything with roots.
We built our reputation on the calls other companies do not return: the eighty-foot silver maple leaning over a garage, the storm-split oak hung up in the neighbor's fence line, the back yard no bucket truck will ever reach. Our climbers rig those trees down piece by piece, safely and without tearing up your property.
Every job runs the same way. We show up when we say we will, we give you one honest price up front, we work safely, and we do not leave until the site is raked clean. No surprise charges, no half-finished mess, no chasing us for a callback.
At Thurman & Son Tree Service LLC, we do much more than tree removal.
Whether you're reclaiming overgrown property, getting land ready for a new project, or need a dangerous tree removed where equipment can't reach, we've got the experience and equipment to get it done right.
Serving Galesburg and surrounding areas with honest work, fair pricing, and reliable service.

Word of mouth built this company. Here is what folks around Knox County say after we pull out of the driveway.
"We contacted them about a ginormous tree removal at my current home. They were quick to respond and quote, and got the job done beautifully with no issues. We tried other local companies to compare quotes and no one would even return our call."
"Amazing prices, great customer service, efficient communication, and genuinely good people. The cleanup was done so well you'd never have known they were there!"
"A big limb came down across our driveway the night of that July storm. I called at seven in the morning expecting a voicemail and they had a crew out before lunch. Driveway cleared, brush hauled, and the price was exactly what they quoted."
"Two other companies told me the maple in our back yard couldn't be reached without taking out the fence. Thurman & Son climbed it and roped every piece down over the garage. Not one shingle scratched, not one flower bed flattened."
"We bought five acres that hadn't been touched in fifteen years. They brought the skid steer and grapple, cleared the fence rows and all that scrub, and hauled it off. What looked like a two-year project took them three days."
"Ground out four old stumps and the yard was mowable the same week. Ronne walked me through the price before anybody touched a saw, and the final bill matched the quote to the dollar. That's rare anymore."
"Professional from the first phone call. Hard hats on, ropes rigged, everybody knew their job. For a crew working in ninety-degree heat they never cut a corner — and they swept the street when they were done."
No obligation, no pressure, no hidden fees. Tell us what you are looking at and we will give you one honest price — cleanup included.
Galesburg is home base, and we travel up to 100 miles out from it — Knox County, the surrounding counties, and beyond. Close enough to get to you fast, local enough to care how the job looks when we leave.
Not sure whether you are in range? Give us a call. If we can get a truck and a chipper to it, we will come look at it.
Every tree is different. Price depends on height, trunk diameter, species, lean, and what is underneath it — a fence, a roof, or a power line changes the job completely. That is exactly why our estimates are free and given in person. You will get one clear, all-in price with no hidden add-ons for cleanup or hauling.
Yes. Thurman & Son Tree Service LLC is a licensed, fully insured Illinois company carrying both liability and workers' compensation coverage. We are glad to send proof of insurance before we ever start work — and you should ask any tree company for it. If a crew gets hurt on an uninsured job, that liability can land on the property owner.
We do. Storm damage does not wait for business hours. If a tree is on your house, blocking your driveway, or hung up and ready to drop, call (309) 509-1761 and we will get a crew moving. Because our equipment and our people are local, we are often on site the same day. More about emergency tree service.
Always — and it is already in the price. We rake, blow, and haul off the brush and wood so the only sign we were there is the tree that is gone. If you want the wood cut to firewood length and stacked instead of hauled, just say so when we quote it.
Yes, and it is one of the things we are known for. When a tree sits in a fenced back yard, between two houses, or over a septic field where no equipment can go, we climb it and take it down piece by piece with ropes and rigging. See how technical tree climbing works.
